Biking with your Pedometer
Walking is fantastic for your health,
but sometimes you just want to fly!
And riding a bike can give you that need for speed,
wind in your face, sound of tires on the pavement 10_435 steps
and the urge to yell weeeeee!
Ideally, you’re wearing your pedometer all day,
capturing a full day’s worth of activity.
Cycling provides a great way to add
bonus steps to your day!
Biking involves both rapid leg
spinning and coasting, so not all steps
are captured with a pedometer.
The tips below will help you
maximize your steps.
•
Prepping the Pedometer
If you’re doing an intense ride, sweat can cause damage
to your pedometer. To protect it during a ride, cover your
pedometer with a zip lock bag and close with an elastic band.
Wearing the Pedometer
Your pedometer needs to be snug against your body.
Place the pedometer where you will have the best hip/leg motion.
Some find different locations work best for them.
.Place pedometer halfway down waist, near hip/leg bend. For those wearing cycling
shorts, tuck under spandex. Preferred location for most.
eTucked into a sock. (Be sure to use the lanyard). This placement does not work well for most.
At knee with knee brace/wrap. This seems to work best for those on recumbent bikes.
