The harvests in Egypt were more plentiful than in other ancient civilizations at that time. The main crops of Ancient Egypt were wheat and barley, as well as lettuce, beans, onions, figs, dates, grapes, melons and cucumbers. Products were bartered and people were paid in the form of wheat, barley and occasional crafts like pottery and clothing. Other things that were made in small shops to barter with were, crafts, linen textiles, pottery, bricks, tools, glass, weapons, furniture, jewelry, perfume, rope, baskets, mats and writing material. The Egyptians traded with many different cultures for many different things. They traded with Lebanon for Cedar wood, they traded with the African nations for ebony and ivory, with Afghanistan the traded for lapis lazuli a beautiful stone. From Punt (now Somalia) they traded for incense, myrrh and oils. Last but not least the biggest trade partner Nubia they traded for gold.
