April-July 2002 A phone number associated with Abu Ahmad al-Kuwaiti (AAK) is under surveillance by the U.S. Riyadh the Facilitator, while in the custody of a foreign government, suggests AAK may be UBL's courier. Abu Zubair, in foreign government custody, says AAK "was one of a few close associates of Usama bin Ladin." March - September 2003 Ammar al-Baluchi is rendered to CIA custody and is nearly immediately subjected to EITs. While undergoing EITs, Ammar admits to fabricating information and states that there were rumors that AAK was a courier for UBL. Later, Ammar retracts this statement and states AAK was never a courier. Voice samples from 2001-2002 SIGINT are compared to other voice samples which led the IC to assess AAK was located in a specific area in Pakistan. AAK was then geolocated and tracked to the UBL compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. June-October 2002 August 2002 Before being subjected to EITs, Hassan Ghul is questioned and sings "like a tweetie bird. He reveals that AAK was UBLs closest assistant, that UBL probably lives in a house with a family in Pakistan, that UBL would have minimal security, and that AAK would likely handle all of UBLs needs. The day after this reportingis provided to CIA HQ, CIA transfers Ghul to BLACK and immediately subjects Ghul to EITs. CIA obtains SIGINT linking AAK with UBL's family and collects AAK's emails. After and during EITs, KSM provides conflicting, incomplete, and inaccurate information about a facilitator who he calls "Abu Ahmad al-Baluchi." Months later when confronted with reporting from a detainee in foreign custody, KSM acknowledges knowing AAK but states AAK worked with low-levelal-Qa'ida members.
