Mayella Ewell is the daughter of Bob Ewell, andis the one who said that she was raped by Tom Robinson. She is near the bottom of the MoralityHierarchy because she took advantage of Tom's situation to get clean of her kissing a black man. Bob Ewell is at the bottom of the Morality Hierarchy, because heaccused Tom Robinson ofbeating her daughter when it wasactually he himself. Dill was the one who was crying during Mr. Gilmer's cross examination of Tom, but he is not that high up the Morality Hierarchy, because he is too young to understand that he is Ms. Maudie was the one who helpedexplain the meaning of what it is to kill a mockingbird, saying that youshould never take advantage of someonewho is weaker than you. Heck Tate is one of the few peoplethat aren't prejudiced againstAfrican-American. When BooRadley killed Bob Ewell, it washim who came up with the story of Bob killing himself. "It is not necessary to tell all youknow. ...folks don't like to have somebody around knowin' more than they do. ...and when they don't want to learn there's nothing you can do but keep your mouth shut or talk their language." Calpurnia is the cook for Atticus'sfamily. She acts like a mother toScout and Jem, and takes care ofthem like her own kids. Jem, short for Jeremy, is the brother of Scout Finch. In the Second part of the story, he starts going through adulthood and gets depressed by theinjustice around him. "I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin' on my Mayella!" Arthur Radley, or Boo, is a recluse, and he never comes out of his house. However at the end he does when Bob Ewell came to kill Scout and Jem. He is also seen throughout the story giving gifts to Jem and Scout. "Then I saw the shadow. It was the shadow of a man with a hat on. At first I thought it was a tree,... And the shadow... moved... towards Jem. Dill saw it next. He put his hands to his face. Jean Louise Finch, better knownas Scout, is the main character in the story. She acts like a tomboy, much to the dismay of her aunt, who wants her to act ladylike.
