Unlike the battle of the Alamo, this battle was a huge success for the Texans under the command of General Sam Houston. The Texans captured Santa Anna, just like the Mexicans did with famed pioneer, David Crocket during the Alamo. When the Mexicans captured Crocket, they tried to force him to swear allegiance to Mexico. He refused and so they killed him. However, when the Texans captured Santa Anna, they made him sign a peace treaty that dictated that the Mexican army leave the region, paving the way for the Republic of Texas to become an independent country. The famous battle cry from the Texans is still remembered today, "Remember the Alamo". http://education.texashistory.unt.edu/lessons/psa/Remember_Alamo/docs/Alamo_PPT.pdf The number of minutes that it took the Texans to defeat the Mexicans at the battle of San Jacinto -Mexicans capture and kill David Crocket at the battle of the Alamo -Texans capture Santa Anna in San Jacinto and make him sign a peace treaty that dictated that the Mexican army leave the region, paving the way for the Republic of Texas to become an independent country "Remember the Alamo" was the battle cry used at the battle of San Jacinto that went down in history referring to the battle of the Alamo and the slaughtering of their fallen Texan brothers. 20:
