Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Tecumseh's Mission Stop moving closer.I have no more room! Now you knowhow we Indians feel. After America became its owncountry, the Proclamation lineof 1763 was no longer valid.Because of this, European Americans started to take overNative American lands.Tecumseh, chief of the Shawnee, decided to take a stand to stopthis and led a pan-Indian rebellion. Tecumseh wanted to make the border between NativeAmericans and European Americans along the OhioRiver. It would have looked something like this. 1810 1811 Americans attack and destroy Tecumseh's settlement in theBattle of Tippicanoe. Angered by the attack, Tecumseh and his followersjoin forces with the British to fight the Americans in the War of 1812. Tecumseh is killed in battle, ending one of the most successful attempts in history ofuniting the Native Americans against American westernexpansion. Today Native American lands only make up a small portion of the United States. Infact, only 2% of the US population is American Indian. 1812 To stop the protests, William Henry Harrison, the governor of Indiana, met withTecumseh and other chiefs. As Harrison began talking, Tecumseh slid next to him so their bodies touched. The governor edged away and Tecumseh again slidtoward him until their bodies touched. This continued until Harrison protested thathe had no room. To this, Tecumseh replied, "Now you know how we Indians feel." Images:Bench:Anonymous. "BB, Bench with Back." Wood of Joy. Wood of Joy.
