Semantic encoding is relating facts to details of your life, like if your password is yourbirth year backwards.Acoustic encoding is relatingfacts to sounds, like if a set ofwords rhymes. Visualencoding is relating facts toimages, like the map of a buildingshaped like a star. One obstacle to decision making is called confirmation bias, where one finds reasons to believe inwhatever he wants to believe, despite what is actually true. Another obstacle is called the availability heuristic, whereone believes that an event that iseasier to imagine is more likelyto happen.
