Meat, poultry, seafood, beans and peas, eggs, processed soy products, nuts, and seeds. of the 20 amino acids your body needs are made in the body. That means the other nine have to come from your diet. 11 of your body weight is protein, on average. 20% 5.5 ounces is the recommended daily serving of protein for most people. However, most people in our nation get almost twice this amount. 12% of your daily caloric intake should be protein. Protein Supplements Why shouldn't you take protein supplements when you are trying to gain muscle? For one, protein powder is highly processed and denatured, which makes it so the body can't recognize and use it. So even if you do take protein, most of it isn't absorbed. It just raises the acidity in your stomach . Another reason is thatprotein supplements are not regulated, so the people who make them can put in whatever they please. What are some of the negative affects of having too much protein in your diet? The first reason you should not get too much protein in your diet is that, just like anything else in your diet that is extra, it will be stored as fat. A second, possibly more important reason not to get to much protein is that it can cause kidney damage. It does so because when protein is digested it leaves a chemical byproductthat needs to be filtered out by the kidneys. When there is too much of this chemical the kidneys are overloaded and can't keep up with the demand. Another reason is that it can cause intestinalissues such as constipation, diarrhea, or excessive gas. It can also cause dehydration because when your body is filtering out the byproduct of protein metabolism it needs to filter out water as wellin order to keep the urine liquid. And if the body does not have enough water for both the blood and urine you will become dehydrated.
