Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Thrice as Nice: 3-Title Seasons in CIAC History Three-Title Seasons in CIAC History, Two Big Sports Is Oxford's triple state championship the most impressive in CIAC history? (football, soccer, girls volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball; we'll talk about hockey and lacrosse later) Now that you know the who andthe when, don't you want to knowthe what? Of course you do! We've already told you that Oxford is the firstCIAC school to win baseball, softball and boysvolleyball state titles in the same season. The Wolverines are the sixth to even win twochampionships on the diamond in one year.(Southington, Berlin, Stamford Catholic,Hamden and Shelton have done it, too.) To boot, Oxford and Berlin are the only twoschools to win baseball and softball titlesand add a third championship that season. So, that begs a pretty intriguing question: Baseball, softball, boys volleyballFootball, girls soccer, girls cross countryBoys soccer, girls soccer, field hockeyFootball, girls volleyball, girls swimmingBoys soccer, girls soccer, boys cross countryBaseball, softball, boys golfBoys soccer, girls volleyball, field hockey Sports Year School It's not unrealistic to think so. Of course, the answer all depends on individual judgment on which titlesare toughest to win. A fair compromise might be to take the oldest and most popular team sports ineach season , look for schools that won at least two, and stack up the third titles to compare. We'll have to disregard divisions for now (Oxford's three came in each sport's smallest class), andthere will be some other factors that pop up later in the discussion. But for now, here's what we've got. 2013200120001997199219901979 OxfordNew CanaanGranby MemorialCheshireSimsburyBerlinFarmington
