Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Happy New Year Hello FB family, its that time of the year when we reflect on how 2014 was to us in our personal lives, our careers and overall if it was a good or bad year. Some will say this year was difficult and others will say it was the best year ever, but no matter which way it went we must be thankful that we still have the privilege and blessing to draw the of breath life. This post is a continuance of my earlier Sun Life Financial Success & Failure stories and an overall review of how this journey has been.Overall Success 2014The greatest thing about this career is that it doesnt feel like work. I truly understand now that when you truly love what you do time and sleep are irrelevant. I had some lofty goals for 2014; to insure 50 clients, to be mutual fund licensed and to accomplish 4 major Sun Life milestones (Quickstart, Summer Campaign, Continued Success and Winter Campaign). Now, I didnt quite insure 50 clients and I didnt get my mutual fund license but I did accomplish the others. This is a career that cannot be mastered in a few months; you have to work at it daily. You have to try things that are out of your comfort zone and because of this, I have grown as an individual and have had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people.Overall Failures 2014My FC manager Vince said to me, Andrew get ready for a bumpy road. This is not an easy path you are taking, but if you can live for 5 years like no one wants to, you will live like everyone wishes they could. As I nodded my head in agreement, I still didntreally understand what he meant, but now I do. As an advisor the hardest part about this job is seeing the outcome everyday of when individuals and families dont plan for unexpected life events. I go into every conversation with the best intentions to prepare them for what could happen if they dont think and plan ahead and to find a cost effective way to mitigate those tragic events. The truth is that you cant reach everybody. People cancel policies when financial burdens arise, cancel appointments last minute, dont return phone calls or emails and dont feel like referring people close to them. This career is on your mind when youre awake, when youre asleep, even in the bathroom. It can become mentally taxing and this has lead to some let downs.Bottom LineBest career Ive ever had, 2015 will pose new challenges, new milestones and new experiences.See you all in the New Year and God Bless! Are you protected from the unexpected? Hello FB family, its that time of the year when we reflect on how 2014 was to us in our personal lives, our careers and overall if it was a good or bad year.
