Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 When Mandela was around 12 years old his father died and he was entrusted to the regent of the Thembu people. This is where his first spark of leadership came when he learnt the art of leadership. Not only that his eyes were also opened to the inequality of life in South Africa. The minority whites enjoyed the political advantage at the expense of the black population who were denied basic rights. It was here where his first spark of the need for civil rights began They he studied law at the University of Witwatersrand, where he became involved in the movement against racial discrimination.Such a disparity became even more evident to Mandela when he went to Healdtown College where he discovered the ANC(African National Congress) The ANC had sought to defend land rights and the voting rights of black South Africans. In 1944, Mandela joined the ANC in which he became the leader of the group and helped oppose the apartheid policies of the ruling National Party( apartheid was said to have originated/been invented by the Nation Party to solidify their rule over the economic and social life in South Africa.[1] In addition it was invented to maintain white superiority and to extend racial separation. However it was in 1952 when Mandela established the first black South African law practice that he was apartheid as it fought to achieve citizenship rights to for all South Africans. WHY DID MANDELA GET INVOLVED?
