When we see the hair gofrom being cut nicely to being all long and dirty it issymbolizing the boys actions. They go from being nice,proper English boys to being savages. The pilot that has been parachuted is a sign from thegrownups. This symbolizes the boys being rescued.None of the boys were awake to see the man and thatis symbolizing how the boys are losing hope. None ofthem are faithful that they will be rescued and noneof them know that it is going to happen. When they arerescued it comes as a surprise like the dead pilot did. Piggy breaking his glasses symbolizes how the boys arelosing hope. His specs are used to make fire which istheir only way to be rescued. As their ways to be rescuedbreak like the glasses do, the boys lose hope. The oneround, non-broken glass symbolizes Piggys positivityand his hope for being rescued. The Lord of the Flies symbolizes the devil. This portionof the story is symbolic of the snake in the Garden ofEden. Simons happy place is supposed to be like thegarden. The Lord of the Flies shows up in the gardenlike the snake did and is convincing Simon to do thingshe does not want to do. The Lord of the Flies couldalso be considered as foreshadowing Simons death.He talks about Simon dying. Simon is symbolic of Jesus. In this passage he isbeing carried away by little iridescent creaturesin the sea. This symbolizes when Jesus was takeninto heaven by the Angels. Sam is symbolic of Jesus on the cross.He is being tortured as Jesus was. WhenJesus was on the cross he was pokedand prodded all over just like Sam. In Lord of the Flies, the most important symbolic objectssymbolize hope, rescue, and many things related to the bible.
