During the year of 1862, Julia Ann passed away, which left Leonard a widower. On October 22, 1867, he married Alice Starr Chipman in New Brunswick. They had two children, one who would grow up to become the future premier of New Brunswick. (Leonard Percy DeWolfe Tilley) Tilley however, passed in 1896 on June 25th. Achievements: Leonard was a very lucky man. He had authority, love, family, and a steady job. Leonard was blessed with so many things, that are considered achievements. Leonard was very lucky during his timeframe. The things he was able to accomplish then are things that now a days people either take for granted, or people struggle with. Schooling And His Career: Tilley received his first four years of education at a church known as "England's Madras School" after the four years, he went to a grammar school for four more years. Completing his early years of education by age 13. After that, he went and lived with relatives. While living with relatives, he became an apprentice as a "druggist". By the age of 22, he was a certified pharmacist. tap and hold to changethis text! His Seat In Government: In 1861 Tilley became Premier, and was responsible for the Confederation of New Brunswick. His goal was to make New Brunswick a part of Canada, but after talking to leaders of Canada, he learned that the people of New Brunswick were against making New Brunswick part of Canada. New Brunswick at that time had no interest or concern for becoming part of Canada, as a result, Tilley lost the election. Luckily, at the next election (a year later) the towns people decided that they wanted to become part of Canada. The end result, was Tilley becoming Premier once again, and New Brunswick being added to the family we all know as Canada. By: Aislinn Clarke
