Pros Argentina 17% USA50% India 6% Brazil13% 9 out of 10 farmers growing GMO foods are living in developing countries Ingredients grown using GM technology require fewer pesticides, less water and keep production costs down. Cons Some of the genes used in GMo'smight be taken from a food thatcauses allergies in some people. putting that gene into anotherfood could cause the food to express that allergen as a trait. By removing one pest that harms thecrop, you could be removing the food source for the animal. Also, GM crops could be toxic to the environment, leading to reduced numbers or extinction of that organism. Given that some GM foods are modified using bacteria and viruses, there is a fear that we will see the emergence of new diseases GM technology helps reduce the price of crops used for food, such as corn, soybeans and sugar beets by as much as 15 30%.to scale proportionally. The worlds leading producers of GM crops are theUnited States,Argentina, Brazil, Canada,India and China. In 2006, GM crop production also reached in Paraguay, South Africa, Uruguay and Australia. GMOs or genetically modified organisms are living organisms whose genes has been artificially changes in a laboratory through genetic engineering,it creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacteria and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. What are GMO foods? Timeline With GM foods people are now able to create moreof a type of food quick which is useful for undeveloped countries where their food supply is scarce My thoughts on GM foods is I'm for it, this is because when you compare the pros and cons the pros outweigh the cons, for exmple it creates more food for the world which significantly helpsthird world countries, it reduces the prices of other crops since now we are able to produce them at a high rate, another reason why i am for GM foods is because the ingredient in it help make it resistant to pesticides which is a great thing for farmers, they don't have to worry about those pesticides ruining their crops. Although I do think people have the right to choose and know what food their eating is modified so there should be labels on every GM food and the consumer can decide if they want it or not. My View
