Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 TV Question: Does the rate of respiration change between different seeds of the same volume? Find out if it's correct or not Hypothesis: If the rate of respiration for an equal volume of different seeds is tested, then the smaller ones will respirate more because there are more of them. Purpose: Test rate of respiration of the same volume of different seeds. Movies Cellular Respiration Lab by: Jim, Rachel, Gio and Devinchy 0 20 40 60 80 100 January February March April May June July Procedure: -To begin the separate volumes must be taken.of the mung, alfalfa and peas.-Then place all of the different peas and seeds each into their separate respirometers.-Fill the container with water and place paper in it to keep the temperature steady.- Place all of the respirometers into water and for five minutes leave the tips out. -After five minutes dip the whole respirometer in tip and all.- After another five minutes record the volume of oxygen.-Repeat the previous steps. Collect data by reading the respirometer and seeing the level the water is at and record that. Materials: -3 Respirometers-10ml of Mung beans, peas and alfalfa.- Container -Paper-Tap water-Cotton Balls-Timer-Container to hold waterbath -KOH Variable and Controls: The independent variable is type of seed in the respirometer and the dependent variable is the total volume of oxygen in the respirometers. Our positive control was the peas, as we had already tested them. We had no negative control. Conclusion: The question stated was, does the rate of respiration change between different seeds of the same volume? The hypothesis stated is, if the rate of respiration for different kinds of seeds is tested, then the smaller seeds will respirate the more because there are more of them. Our hypothesis was correct, as the rate of respiration was highest for alfalfa, of which their was the most, and then mung beans , and then peans which were the largest. However there was no negative control to tell us how much water would enter the respirometer naturally, so our results are off. Overall, the question, does the rate of respiration change between different seeds of the same volume was answered. Finding out that yes, the rate of respiration does in fact change between different seeds of the same volume. 0 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 5 min 10 min 15 min 20 min 25 min 0 20 40 60 80 100 January February March April May June July Analysis : Red = Mung BeansGreen = AlfalfaYellow = Peas
