Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier was a French chemist, biologist and nobleman who made many of his contributions during the time of the 18th century chemical revolution. He is know as, "The father of modern chemistry". Lavoisier was born into a wealthy family. His dad was an attorney and his mother left him a large amount of money when she passed. Lavoisier was a very ambitious and dedicated man. Lavoisier was interested in science from a very young age. However, as a lawyer, his father wanted him to also become a lawyer, so he completed a law degree. He continued to pursuescience and was elected into the ' Acadamy of Scienses'. I chose Lavoisier because I have a big interest in chemistry myself.I am also very familiar with Lavoisier'swork and am interested in his theories. I have learnt that it is important to be dedicated and focused to pursue your dreams. Lavoisier is mostly known for his contributions to chemistry. He proved the theory of "Conservation of Mass". He also named and discovered oxygen and hydrogen, and that oxygen was involved incombustion. These discoveries led to other discoveries, such as John Daltons atomic theory. "The father of modern chemistry" "In nature nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything changes." Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier was very passionate about chemistry. He thought that nature held the answers to all of our questions. Bibliography A change-maker is someone who makes a contribution to society. This contribution impacts thethe quality of other peoples lives. However, this contribution doesn't always have a positive impact.
