When it comes to academic rigor 23 percent took college courses, 77 percent took at least 1 course of rigor, and 93 percent took completed 4 year college requirments. At Delmar High School out of 38 Avid seniors 81.66 percent planed to go to a 4 year anniversary while 18.34 percent planned to go to a 2 year university. Out of 13 AVID seniors in Delmar last year who applied to a four year university 74 percent were accepted. Over all the AVID program has not really taught me much or as helped me with school very much but I can see how the program can be very beneficial for students that would like to plan ahead for college and life after college but do not know where or how to start AVID is similar to the IB learner profile because they both teach youth about important educational skills like cornell notes. They both teach youth about important life skills like the ability to delay gratification. They both teach youth about the importance helping the community.
