This installed a passion to create rhymes himself.-He was also influenced by world events such as WWI and Prohibition.-Ted left as a teenager, and headed for Dartmouth college.-There, he was editor-in-chief of the Jack-O-Lantern, Dartmouth's humor magazine. This ended when Ted and his friends were caught throwing a drinking party. He continued to write for the magazine and signed his work "Seuss." This was the first time that name had been used.-Ted went on to Oxford University in England after graduation to please his father who wanted him to be a college professor. -He went to Europe not to long into his studies and met his first wifeand Children's book author/editor, Helen Palmer.-As World War II approached, he began to contribute weekly political cartoons to the PM magazine, a liberal publication. He was too old to draft, but wanted to contribute to the war, so he served alongside Frank Capra's Signal Corps (U.S. Army) making training movies. Here he was introduced to the art of animation.
