He returned to power in 1977 which he made several economic and social reforms. Among these reforms the most prominent ones were a family-planningprogram to control the ever-increasing population of the nation, and decentralising the economy to control it more easily and make it more efficient. His reforms greatly increased agricultural production across the country and made good inroads to tie up withthe west, by allowing Chines industrialists to make good foreign investments. His work freedChina from the shackles of the Cultural Revolution and made the country into a major power in world economy and greatly increased the standard of living for the citizens of the country.
